Plans, skirts, and pink rainboots…

This is me about to go out and work in my freshly tilled garden. I’ve waited weeks for it to finally stop raining enough to plant some of the things I started back in March. My family laughed, scoffed, and joked about my gardening attire. That is my favorite t-shirt it says, “Biologists stop for UAA .” (Nerd alert.) But, as many of you know, I can be found in a skirt or dress about 98% of the time. I had just come home from working at SCR for the day, and immediately ran and threw on my trusty rainboots (my garden is a mudfest), and took off to the garden with my new hoe.  As of now, I have 26 strawberry plants, 5 rhubarb, 2 blueberry bushes, 20+ peas, watermelons, corn, tomatoes, asparagus, and peppers planted. I’m off the next two days, so I figured I would be spending a good deal of time planting everything else.

Life has been grand. This past weekend was spent camping on a friend’s farm in Paintsville. I regret that I don’t have any pictures, but I immensely enjoyed the company of dear friends. I’m also happy to report that I have already spent 4 weekends in a tent this year, and it’s not even Memorial Day yet. 😀  Now, if only the lake would recede a bit, so I could hike some of my favorite trails. I’m determined to hike Mt. Leconte this summer…anyone care to join?

I’ve also been focusing a lot on my future career path. The grad school options are plentiful, but the decision has been rough. I’m sort of late bloomer, when it comes to my education, and I regret not finishing things up forever ago, when I was more than capable of doing so. But I can only look forward,  and hopefully the lessons I’ve learned will only help my grad school experience. So, I’m leaning toward dental school. Yes, internet…I want to be a dentist. I know it will be difficult, but aren’t all things worthwhile difficult to obtain at first? I’m still looking at some other options, like PA school. But thought I’d write about this topic, since it’s consumed so much of my life lately. This quote sums up how I feel about it…

Hopefully my next post will include some more pictures. But in the meantime, this is definitely worth a laugh…

Have a Happy Memorial Day! Loves!
